About Images
Most websites offering to resize or compress an image upload your file to a server, process it there and hand back a download link — which means your photograph now sits on someone else's machine, under someone else's retention policy. For a holiday snap that may not matter. For a document photo, a screenshot of an invoice or a picture of your children, it very much does.
The image tools here use the browser's own canvas to decode, scale and re-encode pictures on your device. Nothing is transmitted, nothing is stored, and the tools keep working with the network disconnected. That also makes them faster than the upload-and-wait alternative.
This category is new and currently holds the image resizer and compressor. Format conversion and batch processing are planned.
