  • Weeks
  • Months
  • Hours

    How Does It Work?

    1. Choose the two datesOrder does not matter — if the end date is earlier, the gap is simply counted backwards.
    2. Decide whether the end date countsTick the box when both the first and the last day should be included, as with a hotel stay or a notice period.
    3. Read the totalsYou get the number of days plus weeks, calendar months and hours.

    What Is It Used For?

Counting days by hand goes wrong at month boundaries and in February. This calculator uses proper calendar arithmetic, including leap years, so deadlines, holidays and contract periods come out right the first time.

    • Counting down to a wedding, a holiday, an exam or a due date.
    • Checking a notice period, a warranty window or a return deadline.
    • Working out how long a project actually ran.
    • Measuring the gap between two invoices or payments.
    • Finding how many days a trip or hotel stay covers.

    Frequently Asked Questions

How many days are there between two dates?

Subtract the earlier date from the later one and count whole days. The calculator does this with real calendar arithmetic, so leap years and different month lengths are handled automatically.

Should I include the end date?

Include it when both endpoints count as days of the period — for example a rental that runs from the first to the last day inclusive. Leave it unticked when you want the gap between the dates, as with a deadline.

    Does it count leap days?

Yes. 29 February is counted as a normal day, so a span crossing 2024 or 2028 will be one day longer than the same span in an ordinary year.

What if my end date is before my start date?

The calculator still works and tells you the gap, noting that it is counted backwards.

How do I count only working days?

Use the Working Days Calculator, which skips weekends and lets you subtract public holidays.
